I am thrilled to be a returning member of the #digcit Twitter chat moderation team for the 2014-2015 school year! I am even more excited to have three new moderators joining our dynamic team.

Our three new AWESOME moderators include:

1. Mike Ribble – @digcitizen Researcher, author, and presenter Mike Ribble is truly an innovator when it comes to digital citizenship education. His website, Digital Citizenship, Using Technology Appropriately, is an incredible resource for learning about the nine themes of digital citizenship. We are honored to have Mike joining our team and sharing with our chat participants his knowledge and expertise on the topic of digital citizenship.

2. Alan Katzman- @SocialAssurity Last year, many of the #digcit chats focused on the impact a student’s digital footprint can have on his or her future. Specifically, we often discussed the ways in which colleges are using social media to screen applicants. This year, we are fortunate to have Alan Katzman, owner of the New York City based Social Assurity, joining our team. Alan specializes in providing students with practical advice and guidance on how they can leverage social media to impress college admissions officers and future employers and it is wonderful to have him join our team!

3. Sarah Thomas- @sarahdateechur I am super excited to have Google and Edmodo certified educator Sarah Thomas joining the #digcit team! Sarah is the Technology Liaison at John Hanson French Immersion School in Prince Georges County, MD. Additionally, Sarah teaches Technology Integration and English Language Arts at the middle school level. Sarah regularly presents at the local, regional, and state level on a variety of technology topics.

Share Your Thoughts with the #digcit Team!

The 2014-2015 #digcit chats begin on Wednesday, September 10th (I’m moderating and hope you will be there!). In an effort to prepare for the year ahead, the team is looking for your feedback and ideas on how we can make the most out of the hour that we spend together every 2nd and 4th Wednesday. Please take a moment to complete the form below and share your thoughts and comments about digital citizenship. Please share this form with the members of your PLN who are interested in bringing digital citizenship education to their school communities. This is an incredibly important topic and one that every educator should be aware of and ultimately incorporating into their curriculum.
